A 6-Day Gravel Tour

Welcome to Paradise!

The Algarve is an exceptional destination for cycle tourism. The stunning landscapes, rural tracks, fantastic gastronomy and generosity of the people make for wonderful experiences on two wheels.

This 6-Day tour is suitable for intermediate riders with some gravel experience. Most days have more than one route option so you can ride according to your ability and energy levels on the day! You will stay in great 3-4* hotels and we will eat in traditional restaurants serving local dishes and wine.

Our main aim with any cycle tour in Portugal is to give our clients a glimpse of real Portugal. And this one will be no exception.

Below you will find all the details for your trip, so when you are ready, simply click 'Book Now' and follow the steps.

For any questions at all, don't hesitate to reach out us at selfguided@paradise-cycling.com.

CLIMATE

The climate in the Algarve is ideal for cycling most of the year around. It is possible to get some rain in the early parts of the year (Feb-April) however this doesn’t usually last too long. The only month we would advise thinking of avoiding would be mid-August, which is usually too hot for most people.

Spring flowers in April, May and June are stunning, and September, October and November are also fantastic times to ride.

Winter is one of the most underrated times to ride in the Algarve - blue skies, cooler temperatures, lower prices and almost no one else on the roads and tracks.

general icon

DIFFICULTY AND TERRAIN

This trip is designed to be flexible according to your ability. Each day will consist of at least 40% gravel track sections (imagine a 4x4 gravel track suitable for vehicles as well) and the rest small quiet tarmac roads.

There is some climbing (the Algarve is not flat!), however technically it is not difficult, as most tracks are suitable for vehicles as well.

general icon

EATING AND DRINKING

We will recommend a restaurant each evening and cafes en route for you.

We support small, local cafes and restaurants, eating where we can ‘how the locals do’. The food in interior Portugal is often more simple than on the Algarve coast, with menus regularly changing with the region and season.

All dietary requirements will be happily catered for – just let us know what you require, or what your likes or dislikes are and we will adapt our recommendations.

general icon

24/7 SUPPORT

If you book a self-guided tour, we are always on the end of the phone. This means that if you need mechanical support, want to change a booking, or anything else which may crop up on the road, our friendly (bilingual!) team are here to help

Accommodation

Please note that due to availability, accommodation may vary from the hotels listed above.

Depending on your group size, we may be able to offer you a choice of hotels. Where possible we will do our best to accommodate you in small, traditional hotels and guesthouses where you will enjoy a truly unique experience each night.
